Unit 1 Assignment 1 - Rationale
For this assignment, I created and designed and
advertisement for my original brand of an energy drink called “Freak Show”
which takes after the theme of carnivals. This product is suitable for all
ages, but is mainly targeted at a younger audience such as teens and young
adults. The idea of “Freak Show” is that the energy drink is successful at
revitalizing and refreshing the mind during times of fatigue and drowsiness.
The product relates the energy given to the consumer to that of a carnival
performer who embarks on life-risking tricks such as acrobatics and trapeze.
The character developed for “Freak Show” is a harlequin/ circus performer,
which gives the energy drink a sex appeal as well as further enhancing the
carnival theme and energy of the product. “Freak Show” aims at younger
audiences, mainly adolescents or young adults, who partake in exhausting
everyday activities or responsibilities such as sports or work. By giving this
product a carnival theme and a circus performing character, the product achieves
at convincing the consumers of its success at temporarily restoring mental
alertness.
